Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is a kind of reinforced carbon fiber and fiber reinforced plastic is. Epoxy resins are mainly used as substrates. It is simply called carbon resin or carbon.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic has high strength and lightness. The field of construction includes seismic strengthening of buildings and bridges since the 1990s, has begun practical use in sports applications such as golf shafts and fishing rods, and has expanded to the aircraft and automotive industries. But it is widely used.
The properties of carbon composites are mainly manifested in three aspects: mechanical properties, thermophysical properties and thermal ablation properties.
(1) Low density (about 1.7g/cm3) It is the lightest material in the structure that withstands high temperature; the strength at high temperature is good, and the room temperature strength can be retained at 2200 °C; it has high fracture toughness and fatigue resistance. and creep resistance; and the tensile strength and elastic modulus are higher than ordinary carbon materials, the fiber orientation obviously affects the strength of the material, and its stress-strain curve shows a "pseudoplastic effect" when the load is applied, that is, in the initial stage of the application of load. The relationship is linear, and then becomes bilinear. After unloading and then loading, the curve is still linear and can reach the original load level.
(2) Small thermal expansion coefficient, high specific heat capacity, can store a large amount of thermal energy, low thermal conductivity, excellent resistance to thermal shock and thermal friction.
(3) The performance of heat-resistant ablation is good. Thermal ablation performance is the phenomenon of surface loss of solid materials caused by thermochemical and mechanical processes under the action of heat flow. Preventing heat from flowing into the material, C-C material is a sublimation-radiation type material.
